Heartthrob Gerry Turner Deserves Cancelation (Reasons Why He’s Not Worth Watching)

Although The Golden Bachelor is a great show that will hopefully be on for many years to come, Gerry Turner deserves to be cancelled. The 72-year-old retired restaurateur was once relevant, but his 15 minutes are up and it’s time for everyone to move on. Gerry was living a relatively obscure life before reality TV fame came calling, and the widow answered the call. He enjoyed the experience at first and admired his celebrity. However, it wasn’t long before his new dream life turned into a nightmare.

The Golden Bachelor season 1 ended with a lavish wedding between Gerry and 70-year-old Theresa Nist, a day trader from New Jersey. Although the couple of seven years had hoped to live happily ever after, they only stayed married for now three months. After Gerry announced his split from Theresa, Gerry’s reputation has taken a serious hit. It may be time for Gerry to step out of the spotlight before he does any more damage.

Gerry may have enjoyed Theresa’s company, but it is clear The Golden Bachelor never really loved himor he would have fought for her. The fact that he was willing to walk away without a fight shows that his heart was never really in it. It wouldn’t be the first time Gerry faked his feelings. During the season, Gerry chose his options for Theresa and 65-year-old fitness instructor Leslie Fhima. Gerry told Leslie she was “the one” only to turn around and give his last rose to Theresa.

Gerry lied about dating after widowhood

He had a secret girlfriend

Long before joining the cast The Golden BachelorGerry had been a lonely widower. He was married to his late wife Toni Turner for 43 years until her death in 2017. Although Gerry claimed to be single until her death in November 2023, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Gerry lied about his relationship. Allegedly, Gerry started dating again just a month after his late wife’s death and had been in a three-year relationship with a much younger woman who had been living with him.

Gerry makes fun of Theresa online

He was trolling her

In what could only have been an attempt to cover for Theresa, Gerry posted a carousel of Instagram photos in June showing a fundraiser she attended. Gerry’s caption reads in part: “Great friends get together for fun and fundraising.“The photo album commemorates Gerry’s fun charity event at the lake where The Golden Bachelor alum shows off sun-kissed physics in several shots.

This reference to his ex-wife Theresa not wanting to move to Indiana is meant as a joke, but it’s not funny. Marriage is no joke and Gerry and Theresa should not have entered into it so lightly. Although The Golden Bachelor is a great show that will hopefully return for several seasons, Gerry may have overstayed his welcome.
