Whenever Netflix come out with a new Harlan Coben series, it’s pretty much guaranteed to shoot into the Top 10 most-watched shows (and star Richard Armitage, but that’s a story for another day.) The good news is, the author has signed a five-year deal with the streaming service, so there’s still more to come, with the next being an adaptation of his novel Missing You.

Your first look at Missing You

On 3rd October 2024, Netflix revealed our first look images at Missing You, and it looks as Harlan Coben-coded as ever. “You won’t want to miss these first looks at Harlan Coben’s newest thriller MISSING YOU,” the caption read. “Starring Rosalind Eleazar, Richard Armitage, Ashley Walters, Lenny Henry, and Jessica Plummer, coming soon to Netflix.

When did filming for Missing You take place?

Filming for Missing You commenced in the UK in spring 2024, with the actors revealing production wrapped by August. Speaking to , Richard Armitage shared, “That has all wrapped up now. It was amazing… it’s a great story, slightly shorter in format, but starring Lenny Henry and my co-star from Uncle Vanya, Rosalind Eleazar.”

When will Missing You be released?

In the same interview, Richard shared, “I look forward to seeing that, I think January next year.” January 2025? Count us in!

When was Missing You announced by Netflix?

Following the success of Fool Me Once, which landed on 1st January 2024 and amassed 61 million views globally in its first two weeks, Netflix revealed on the 22nd January 2024 that more Harlan Coben goodness was coming.

In a press release shared, they shared, “Missing You and Run Away will be the ninth and 10th on-screen adaptations to be produced from bestselling author Harlan Coben through his ongoing creative partnership with Netflix. Coben continues his work with local screenwriters from around the world to bring his novels to life on screen, so far across four languages.”

What is Missing You about?

Missing You tells the story of Detective Kat Donovan, whose fiancé (and the love of her life) disappeared without a trace over a decade ago. Now in the present day, she’s scrolling through a dating app, and is shocked to see his face come up. With a desire to find out exactly what happened, Kat is pulled back into her past, with details around a separate family tragedy also coming to light.

The production crew who will be attached to the project include:

  • Quay Street Productions (part of ITV Studios), who are based in Manchester, will produce the show. They were behind It’s A Sin and Fool Me Once, so we know we’re in good hands).
  • Victoria Asare-Archer will be on hand to write, who was behind the adaptation of Harlan Coben’s Stay Close, and also Death In Paradise.
  • Executive producers include Harlan Coben, Nicola Shindler, Richard Fee, Victoria Asare-Archer and Danny Brocklehurst.
  • Sean Spencer, who most recently directed on The Lazarus Project with Paapa Essiedu will direct, alongside second director Isher Sahota of The Effects of Lying.
  • Guy Hescott will produce.
