The annual display by The Kite Society of Great Britain will take place at Parliament Hill Fields on Sunday, June 28.

Visitors to the spot – known as ‘kite hill’ – can watch spectacular tricks and intricate routines set to music during the four-hour event.

The annual showpiece is backed by Heath managers the City of London Corporation and local protection group The Heath and Hampstead Society.

Now in its sixth year, past events have drawn hundreds of spectators to enjoy a picnic, fly their own kite or even buy one from The Kite Society.

Founded in the late 70s to share the rules and history of kite flying, the society also organises displays demonstrating the art of kite flying.

The kite festival is part of a programme of summer walks and events on Hampstead Heath including the summer concert at Parliament Hill Bandstand on Sunday August 30, and the annual grazing of sheep on the Heath which could return as early as June.

In its latest newsletter the Heath and Hampstead Society wrote: “We look forward to welcoming The Kite Society of Great Britain for more fun with kites on Kite Hill on Sunday June 28.”
