Although we’ve only recently found some much-needed spring in our step, summer will be here before you know it, and this year, it’s time to party! Following five years of cancellations and altercations, Hackney Carnival is back this summer, celebrating the borough’s diversity and creative talents.
The beloved family-focused parade and celebration will be back on Sunday, September 22ndfeaturing eye-catching floats and vibrant colourful costumes that celebrate carnival culture.
From the must-see parade to live music and art stallsyou can expect a stellar line-up of activities happening throughout the day and the summer all across Hackney, bringing some much-needed glitter and sparkle to the streets of East London.
So, if you’re a fan of dancing the weekend away during Notting Hill Carnival, be sure to keep this adored addition to London’s summer schedule in your books for an extra weekend of Carnival joy.
Expect the steel drums, extravagant outfits, and drool-worthy food that Carnival is so beloved for, with community groups and music acts taking over the floats and streets all day long.
Mayor of Hackney, Caroline Woodly, said in a statement: “The return of Carnival is a chance for residents to come together to celebrate and showcase the creativity and talent that makes our diverse borough so special. For anybody who has yet to experience Hackney Carnival, now is your chance!”
