Tequila drinkers in London will no doubt be more than familiar with Axe. Responsible for opening the city’s first-ever agaveria (or tequila-oriented bar), Hacha had a knock-on effect that has resulted in a proliferation of incredible tequila all across the city. And now they’re taking their popular bars and drinks to a new South London location.
Hacha Bermondsey will open in late Februarycoinciding perfectly with National Margarita Day on February 22. The new bar will be an agave oasis in South London, bringing Southern Californian and Mexican vibes to a prime location just minutes away from London Bridge.
Hacha Bermondsey will serve the bar brand’s popular drinks alongside a menu of new signature cocktails. One new signature is the area-nodding The Bermondsey Batanga, with a choice of Tequila or Mezcal and spiced purple carrot cordial, calamansi, Coke Zero, Tobala Mezcal float, and Palo Santo smoked salt. Or you can opt for the new Twenty cocktail, which mixes up Marigold infused Tequila or Mezcal, banana, white Port, Botivo, and wild pine forest soda.
The new agave menu will regularly spotlight an Agave Spirit of the Week. Guests are encouraged to explore the worlds of agave and learn more about the drinks with complimentary samples. The new agaveria will also offer up exciting weekend brunches, and post-work aperitif sessions.
Now, with all this tequila, you’ll need some food to line the stomach. Fortunately, they’re bringing their Brixton kitchen partner, Nopalitoto the new site. They’ll be serving up their award-winning tacos alongside the bar’s drinks. Hacha Bermondsey is also planning on regular collaborations with London’s most exciting restaurants. So you can expect to see all sorts of food on the menu in the future.

Hacha is no one-trick pony when it comes to agave. They weren’t content to just open the first agaveria in London. Instead, they went ahead and created an award-winning margarita, the Mirror Margaritathat took the city by storm. Naturally, you’ll be able to sip on this modern classic at Hacha Bermondsey, as well as many more margarita riffs and agave-focused drinks. Plus, thanks to Hacha co-founder Deano Moncrieffe’s partnership with Lewis Hamilton on Almave (a non-alcoholic agave spirit), they’ve also got the best non-alcoholic margaritas on town.
However, it’s sad news at the same time for Hacha’s fans as they announce the closure of their Brixton site. After 3 and a half years in the market, “the team have not renewed their lease as Brixton Village itself is currently up for sale.” But as one window agaveria closes, another one opens.
Hacha Bermondsey will open at 157 Tower Bridge Road, SE1 3LW in late February. The nearest stations will be London Bridge and Bermondsey. Find out more about Hacha here.
