The Corporation’s Guildhall headquarters was illuminated purple last night in support of Purple Tuesday.

Purple Tuesday is an international initiative, held on the first Tuesday of November, that encourages businesses to improve accessibility and best practice, to ensure that disabled customers have the best experience possible.

The City Corporation has employer status for the Disability Confident scheme, which supports it to challenge attitudes towards disability, increase understanding, and remove barriers that prevent disabled people from fulfilling their potential.

Corporation Policy Chairman Chris Hayward said:

“We aspire to be a leader in equity, diversity, and inclusion, and illuminating Guildhall is a really visible way to show we are an inclusive organisation that cares about supporting people with disabilities.”
