Guildford Shakespeare Company has unveiled its Spring 2026 season, marking the organisation’s 20th anniversary with a month-long celebration of storytelling, community and immersive theatre.
Running throughout April, the season brings together bold new work, returning favourites and a rare opportunity to hear from the company’s co-founders. The programme continues GSC’s long-standing tradition of transforming unexpected spaces across Guildford into vibrant theatrical settings.
The season opens with the GSC Young Company’s 10th anniversary production, An Anatomy of (T)Errorsrunning 10 to 11 April. Devised by young theatre makers aged 13 to 18, the show explores who pays the cost when science overreaches. The piece draws on three of the company’s 2025 productions, Frankenstein, The Comedy of Errors and Pride & Prejudiceand is written by Theo-Toksvig Stewart.
 
 
 
 
On 19 April, The Shakespeare Walks 2026 return to Guildford after recent outings across Surrey. Part walking tour, part treasure hunt, the experience leads audiences through hidden corners of the town, encountering Shakespearean characters in surprising locations. Devised and directed by co-founder Matt Pinches, the route is kept secret until the day.
Shakespeare’s birthday on 23 April will be marked with What’s Past Is Prologue: An Evening with GSC’s Co-Founders. Sarah Gobran and Matt Pinches will reflect on the company’s two decades of inventive, award-winning theatre making, sharing stories from productions staged everywhere from heritage sites to planes and trains. The event will be chaired by broadcaster Peter Gordon and includes birthday cake for all attendees.
Reflecting on the anniversary, Matt Pinches said: “To be making theatre for 20 years is an honour, and I’m really looking forward, with Sarah, to look back and share the incredible, and sometimes quite unbelievable, journey we’ve been on since 2006. As ever the Young Company show is always a fascinating delight to see what these inspiring young theatre makers come up with, as well as the joy of seeing people discover Shakespeare and their own town in a completely new way. I can’t wait.”
