One of gaming’s biggest insiders claims GTA 6 may not be released in 2025.
Grand Theft Auto VI is not only one of the most anticipated games of next year; it could be that it might be the most enthusiastic entertainment publication of all time.
While there are still many questions about the game that will get fans excited about the news in the title, one thing has remained seemingly certain – 2025 was meant to be the year of the game. GTA 6.
Insider claims that GTA 6 is not coming in 2025
Bloomberg reporter and noted gaming insider Jason Schreier hinted that he seems to be thinking GTA 6 unlikely to be released in 2025.
Appearance on Fun games every day On December 10, Schreier proposed that he would “don’t be upset” if Rockstar Games’ latest open-world blockbuster “does not slide until 2026:”
“I’d be shocked if it didn’t slide to 2026. I’d be shocked if it actually hit fall 2025, but right now Take-Two says they’re on track.”
He admitted that he would“probably slipped again” referring to Rockstar’s habit of delaying games with each subsequent release:
“I’d be shocked if it actually made it next year. I think it’ll probably slip again because Rockstar games always slip. ‘Red Dead (Redemption) 2’… I’ll never forget: I was in Warsaw, Poland sitting in CD Projekt Red’s office talking to them about my first Book “Blood, Sweat and Pixels”…”
Points to 2018 Red Dead Redemption 2Speaking to the developers at the time, Schreier complained about its original release date of 2017, before it was pushed back twice to the fall of the following year:
“I think it was October 2016, I was there and I’ll never forget the Red Dead 2 trailer hit or like they announced screenshots or something… They announced some ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ thing and They said ‘Coming in Fall 2017’ and I remember turning to the people at CD Projekt and saying, “I hope you haven’t planned Cyberpunk for Fall 2017, and they said, “No, don’t worry.” Cyberpunk would of course come out three years after that in Spring 2018 and then Fall 2018, and that was six years ago.”
Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive has stayed firmly ahead GTA 6 that the game will be released in 2025.
Video game giant investors in August as far as March that it was “strictly (targeting) autumn 2025” upcoming title release window:
“Early 2025 is no longer possible. Instead, the goal is firmly autumn 2025.”
These latest comments from Shreier are in direct contradiction to a recent report by a Bloomberg writer in which he was told that GTA 6 there is “on track” release date 2025 (read more here GTA 6 post report here):
“‘GTA 6’ has already missed several deadlines, which is common practice at Rockstar, but Take-Two says it’s now on track.”
Is GTA 6 coming out in 2025?
Relatively lacking GTA 6 fans have maintained that the game is supposed to be released in 2025.
While the fan base eagerly sits and pours out everything they can to produce all kinds of explosive theories GTA 6they’ve taken quiet comfort in knowing that the long-awaited sequel is just months away.
However, this may no longer be the case. Yes, GTA 6 has been in development for over a decade at this point, but who’s to say it shouldn’t be pushed a little further to make sure the game is in top shape?
Rockstar Games has shown that they are willing to wait if it means getting the game to the perfect release slot.
And with that in mind GTA 5 is still a money-making machine and will sell around 10 million copies in 2024 (more than 10 years after release), the studio doesn’t need to rush to acquire GTA 6 there.
While a fall 2025 release date may be the title’s current target, that doesn’t mean it will hit it.
Even if fans are mad about the wait (which they are), people will buy the game whenever it finally sees the light of day. So if Rockstar feels it needs more time in the oven, a push to Spring 2026 (or beyond) wouldn’t be too surprising.
