Greggs will trial fish finger sandwiches and a fish finger wrap in selected stores from Thursday 23 May. The Fish Finger Sandwich will be available with a choice of either ketchup or mayonnaise and is made from a battered cod fillet, dressed with iceberg lettuce inside a soft roll.

The Fish Finger Wrap is also made of cod fillet, with mixed leaves, cucumber and mayonnaise, in a soft tortilla wrap.

Customers were quick to share their reactions on social media earlier today with one fan commenting “bet these pop”, another followed with “this is a dream come true”. Some comments even asked the retailer to extend the trial to London and further afield as one superfan down in Australia commented “please bring a Greggs fish finger sandwich to Australia!”.

The new range will be trialled in 10 stores and will be added to a further 10 across the region in June before a potential national launch in the coming months. From Thursday 23 May they will be available at:

  1. Gateshead, G109 Trinity Square
  2. Longbenton, Quorum Retail Parade
  3. Washington, U3B Peel Retail Park
  4. Newcastle, Sandy Lane Drive Thru
  5. Sunderland, U4 Salterfen Park
  6. Washington, U4 Parsons Rd Industrial Estate
  7. Bowburn, Integra 61 Drive Thru
  8. Hedge, U4 Cotsford Lane
  9. Blaydon, Bridge Street
  10. Greggs @ Primark Northumberland Street

To announce the new menu at the weekend, Greggs opened its very first mobile seafront fish and chip shop on Whitley Bay’s seafront, dubbed ‘Finest Catch by Greggs’ and completely wrapped in vintage Greggs magazine. Launched by South Shields actor, presenter and comedian Rosie Ramsey, the pop-up was an ode to one of Britain’s most nostalgic and healthy midday treats. The star was dressed in the ‘Finest Catch by Greggs’ uniform, serving customers through the hatch as they queued along the promenade.

The cheeky pop-up gave customers the exclusive opportunity to sample the new menu in classic newspaper packaging ahead of Thursday’s official launch, and a chance to relax in the sunshine in canopy-style sun loungers while enjoying a Greggs twist on a British classic.
