Golden Kamuy is based on Satoru Noda’s adventure manga of the same name, depicting a historical adventure centered around a war veteran named Saichi Sugimoto who helps a young Ainu girl named Asirpa avenge her father’s death.
Golden Kamuy premieres in theaters on January 19 and on Netflix on May 19.

Kento Yamazaki – Saichi Sugimoto
The cast is led by Kento Yamazaki Golden Kamuy such as Saichi Sugimoto.
Saichi is a battle-tested and fearless war veteran known as “Immortal Sugimoto”. His nickname stems from the fact that he is still surviving despite having suffered numerous injuries during the Russo-Japanese War.
Sugimoto has been changed by the war, and today he takes on a new mission to find a hidden cache of gold from the Ainu people.
Yamazaki is best known for his roles Orange, Heroine Disqualifiedand Your lie in April.
Anna Yamada – Asirpa
Anna Yamada plays Asirpa, an expert hunter and member of the Ainu tribe.
He joins Sugimoto’s quest to find Ainu gold, noting that his father is one of the original members of the tribe who got their hands on the treasure in the past.
Sugimoto also tells Asirpa that she can get justice for her father because her killer is still alive in Abashiri prison. The only way the killer will be executed is to find the hidden gold.

Yuma Yamoto – Yoshitake Shiraishi
Another prisoner who escaped from Abashiri Prison is Yûma Yamoto’s Yoshitake Shiraishi (aka King of Escapes).
Sugimoto and Asirpa chase after Shiraishi because of a tattoo made by Noppera Bo (killer of the Ainu tribe).
He tells them the truth about the other prisoners, pointing out that all the escapees are crazy and dangerous.
Fans may recognize Yûma Yamoto from her roles Cake guru, Let me eat your pancreasand From today it’s my turn.
Gordon Maeda – Hyakunosuke Ogata
Gordon Maeda joins the cast Golden Kamuy such as Hyakunosuke Ogata.
Hyakunosuke Ogata is a dangerous sniper from the 7th unit of the infantry battalion who also seems to be chasing Ainu gold. He attacks the other prisoners as well as Sugimoto and Asirpa.
Maeda performed earlier in the year Tokyo Revengers, A romantic manga artistand Lightning beyond.
Ryôhei Ohtani – Genjirô Tanigaki
Genjirô Tanigaki (played by Ryôhei Ohtani) is a former 7th Division Private First Class who also pursues Ainu Gold and Immortal Sugimoto.

Shuntarô Yanagi – Yôhei / Kôhei Nikaido
Shuntarô Yanagi is a part Golden Kamuyn as an actor when he portrays two characters named Yôhei and Kôhei Nikaido.
Yôhei and Kôhei Nikaido are the sadistic supervisors of Otaru Tsurumi who violently torture Sugimoto.

Katsumi Kiba resurrects Shinpachi Nagakura Golden Kamuy.
Nagakura is known as Shinsegumi’s best swordsman and a member of Hijikata’s group.

Hisako Ôkata – Sighing
Hisako Ôkata plays Huc, Aspira’s grandmother, who is excited to bring Sugimoto as her first guest to the village.

Makita Sports – Takechiyo Gotô
Makita Sports appears in the early days Golden Kamuy as a drunken old man named Takechiyo Gotô.

Debo Akibe plays Asirpa’s great uncle Golden Kamuy.
Asirpa’s uncle lives in Kotan, an Ainu village, and he agrees that Sugimoto can take care of Asirpa. He also tells Sugimoto that it is dangerous to find Ainu gold because it is possessed by demons.
Akibe’s other big credit is playing Debo Ainu Mosir.
Hiroshi Tamaki – Tokushirô Tsurumi
Tokushirô Tsurumi is the first lieutenant of the Seventh Division, who is also tasked with obtaining the Ainu gold. The character is played on screen by Hiroshi Tamaki.
Tsurumi also wants to find and capture the immortal Sugimoto and his allies. When he finds the gold, he wants to fund the entire Seventh Division and eventually take over Hokkaido.

Hiroshi Tachi – Toshizô Hijikata
Hiroshi Tachi’s Toshizô Hijikata is the deputy head of the Shinsegumi and a former inmate of Abashiri Prison who also has tattoos drawn by Nappera Bo.
As a master swordsman and battle veteran, he wants to fight with the Seventh Division to overtake them in the search for Ainu gold and preserve the last shogunate.

Keisuke Horibe – Kouji Wada
Keisuke Horibe performs Golden Kamuy like Kouji Wada, a member of the 7th Division who uses harsh punishments on his subordinates.
When he confronts Tsurumi about not getting permission to free his men, he is killed by people loyal to the first lieutenant.
