The Golden Bachelor star Joan Vassos revealed the heartbreaking reason why Chock Chapple’s breakup when her mother died felt like déjà vu when she was Gerry Turner’s rival. I didn’t really plan for it, but I thought, ‘There’s a world where I can get everything right at home and then come back and this is not going to end,’ and it literally never happened.”

However, Joan stated that Chock had promised him that he would come backhe thought “‘You don’t know what’s going on at home. You don’t know you’ll be able to come back. You don’t know how much they need you.'”


Joan said that when Chock returned, he was “surprised” and “so excitedfor the longer he was gone–remember, he was only gone two days–I had less and less hope of his return. I talked myself out of it. I was like, ‘He’s not coming. He is not coming. I don’t know how to do this.‘ Billy told Joan that he lit up when Chock returned. He replied, “I know. I was very happy.”

Fortunately, Joan’s mother eventually recovered, but that was it another situation where Joan and Chock could be fully connected.
