star Joan Vassos defended her suitor Guy Gansert, saying she never saw his side after it was revealed his ex-wife had filed a restraining order against him before the show.

On the Wednesday, October 23 episode Viall fileshosted by the former BachelorNick Viall and his wife Natalie and shared via YouTube Joan defended Guy. He explained, “I feel like the Golden franchise is a little bit unique because we come in here with a lot of history. We’ve lived a lot of lives, and it doesn’t surprise me at all that people do things that maybe they’re not proud of. And when you agree to go on this show, you’re exposing yourself to these things.”

Joan continued: “The guys I got to know were gentlemen. They were kind people. They were kind to each other. They were wonderful to me. I’ve never seen that side of Guy or anyone. My interactions with all the guys were pure and lovely and I never got any indication that he had any kind of past.”

Joan added that although she knew Guy was going through a difficult divorce, he didn’t suspect anything like a restraining order had happened. He said, “I feel bad that he had a bad divorce. I knew it. I knew it was very difficult and he felt a lot of guilt about breaking up the family because of the children. I had no idea what the interaction with his ex-wife was at the time, so he never suspected anything wrong.”

Joan also sang Guy’s praises and defended him based on his experience. He said, “She was so kind to me, she was so open and vulnerable. She cried. She talked about how she was finally happy for the first time in so many years. I never in a million years would have thought there was any kind of past there.”

Johan also stated, I still believe that he is a really kind and good person. You know, maybe he made a mistake. I don’t know. I don’t know (it) anything other than what you know. I saw his response to that and it feels like it’s been resolved between the two of them and it just unfortunately came out.”

What Joan Vassos’ Guy Gansert’s Defense Means

The guy might be Joan’s final choice

Rickly Middlesworth/Disney

Although Guy’s past with his ex-wife is troubling, Joan’s defense of him is reassuring. Guy’s divorce from his ex-wife was very difficult and this was clearly a low point in his life. The fact that she voluntarily gave up the restraining order doesn’t justify Guy’s actions, but it does show that they were able to resolve the issue. Guy said they did in an Instagram post.

Joan standing up for Guy could mean that she is now in a relationship with himif she chose him over her two remaining suitors, Chock Chapple and Pascal Ibgui. Our take on Joan Vassos defending Guy Gansert

It’s kind of Joan to give the guy some grace

Joan was very kind to defend Guy and give him graceespecially since he and his ex-wife wanted to seal the court records, but were denied that request. Therefore, the details of their divorce became public. While it’s troubling that Guy’s ex-wife wanted a restraining order against him at some point, maybe he shouldn’t be judged solely on this one mistake in his life.

Will Guy Gansert Win The Golden Bachelorette? (SPOILER)

Golden Bachelorette Season 1 Guy Gansert has been building a relationship with Joan Vassos. Will he win her heart at the end of the season?

However, the Bachelor the franchise needs to do a better job of screening people. Bachelorette season 21 winner Devin Strader and another The Golden Bachelor competitor, Gil Ramirez, both had been restrained by their exes. While everyone makes mistakes, it would be better if shows didn’t cast people with troubled pasts. This would avoid disputes and give references a smoother ride. Even though Guy made a mistake in the past, it’s nice to hear that Joan thinks she’s a good person.
