Whether you’re going on a trip with your pals or vay-caying with the fam, Mallorca is a great holiday destination. The Balearic island is home to tasty delicacies like sobrasada and ensaimadas, beaut beaches and mountainous scenery. When going with a group renting a villa is often easier and allows the freedom to do as you please (including late-night dips, sleeping in and fridge raiding).

Holiday home rental company James Villas have got plenty of villas to choose from across Mallorca. Their properties start at £329 per week and they have something for everyone – rustic-style houses, holiday resorts, family-friendly villas, and luxury pads if you’re looking to splash the cash. You can also book with ease as there’s free cancellation and 24/7 support.

We checked out their Sant Sebastia property in the small town of Pollenca. North of the island and surrounded by mountains, Pollenca is an ancient Roman town with stunning architecture and cobbled streets. It’s a picturesque spot that’s only a short drive away from the beaches Formentor, Port de Pollenca and Cala Sant Vicenc.

The villa was in a three-story townhouse in the centre of Pollenca. Over the three floors, there were four bedrooms, (including a large master bedroom) with enough space to sleep eight people in total, three bathrooms, and a large kitchen and living area. Outside of the house, there are two balconies (one with a table and one with sun loungers), a pool and dining area. There’s also an outdoor BBQ – ideal for grilling some gambas. Although the house is in the centre of town, the outdoor area is surprisingly quiet.

On arrival, we were greeted by a fridge stocked with delicacies from local producers, including wine, cheese and morcilla. There were also a number of bakeries surrounding the villa for the morning ensaimada run, and restaurants and bars for when you fancy hitting the streets for the evening.

We were sad to leave our villa and had certainly become accustomed to the island life. A home away from home, it was the perfect Spanish casa to holiday in for a week of fun in the sun. If you’re planning a trip abroad with a group then definitely check out James Villas.

Rates are £1549 for seven days in October, higher in peak season
