The opening of Mexican Geniuses: A Frida & Diego Immersive Experience is fast approaching and now the spellbinding exhibition has announced its London home. In a matter of weeks, a cavernous warehouse found in the heart of Canada Water will be getting an extra special – and wondrously vibrant – lick of paint that will see the works of Frida and Diego brought to life in spectacular fashion. You’ll leave behind the concrete metropolis of London behind and step inside the paradisiacal world of these iconic Mexican artists, thanks to a 360-degree digital show, virtual reality experience and atmospheric sound system.

Dock X, the industrial venue where all this will unfold, is a perfect blank canvas for the masterpieces to be displayed in all their glory, with over 300 projections of all sizes bathing the space with a kaleidoscope of colour. You’ll find it just a four minute walk from Canada Water station, and while the exterior may be unassuming, inside you’ll embark on a mesmerising journey through the works of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. This powerhouse pair knew how to tell a story through a painting and this exhibition invites you to lose yourself in the narrative of their artistry like never before.

This immersive experience is not like your average art exhibition, instead a creative dash of technological wizardry has injected new movement and expression into the Mexican Geniuses’ beautiful brushstrokes. The 360-degree digital show, created using video-mapping technology, is sure to enchant as their artworks paint the walls around you. You’ll even be able to see the universe through their eyes by slipping on a VR headset which will whisk you away to the streets of Mexico for a visually-rich exploration, made all the more real by immersive sounds. If you’ve always dreamed of a visit, this will likely have you googling flights as soon as you get home.

Of course, if you’re looking for a deeper dive below the canvas’ surface there will be plenty of informative guides, panels and educational material to shed some light on the variety of portraits and paintings. You’ll be sure to emerge with a wealth of interesting tidbits and fascinating stories you’ve learned about the creations. Plus, the younger guests can even participate in some engaging and fun workshops. Make sure you get your tickets for Mexican Geniuses: A Frida & Diego Immersive Experience now, as they’ll soon be disappearing faster than the sweep of a paintbrush.
