Not quite got that holiday booked just yet? At least we have Netflix. Continuing an incredibly strong summer season on the streaming platform, Netflix has a number of gems in store for us this coming month. Here are our picks of the best new movies and TV shows, new to Netflix this August 2022.

    Wedding Season, August 4th

In search of your next new rom-com to watch on Netflix? Well, scroll no more as Wedding Season arrives this month. Pressured by their parents to find spouses, Asha (Pallavi Sharda) and Ravi (Suraj Sharma) pretend to date in order to survive a summer of weddings— but find themselves falling for each other as they struggle to balance who they are with who their parents want them to be.

    The Sandman, August 5th

There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies. When Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever. To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence. He revisits old friends and foes, and meets new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way. You can also expect to see familiar faces like Stephen Fry and Emmerdale’s Jenna Coleman.

    Locke & Key (S3), August 10th

Fans of the television adaptation of the comic book series Locke & Key can finally get stuck into the third season this month. The Locke family uncovers more magic within Keyhouse, while a new threat — the most dangerous one yet — looms in Matheson with plans of his own for the keys. From Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) and Meredith Averill (The Haunting of Hill House), Locke & Key is a coming-of-age mystery about love, loss, and the unshakable bonds that define family.

    Instant Dream Home, August 10th

Lockdown was a time where multiple people started renovation projects to create their perfect home and also boosted an appreciation for home interiors (well, if we’re going to have to stay inside it needs to be cosy) and the hype is not going away. Hosted by Orange is the New Black‘s Danielle Brooks, Instant Dream Home is part home renovation show and part heist movie. A group of families are in for the surprise of their lives, with their homes about to be totally transformed and radically improved from ho-hum to OMG…in just one day! Get ready for a bucket load of home inspo.

    Never Have I Ever (S3), August 12th

In the next (and final) season of the coming-of-age comedy Never Have I Ever, produced by Miny Kaling, Indian American teenager Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) continues to deal with the everyday pressures of high school and drama at home, while also navigating new romantic relationships. With previous seasons featuring a soundtrack filled with bangers like Glass Animals’ ‘Heatwaves’, we’re looking forward to another series of catchy music to accompany all the teenage drama.

    Echoes, August 19th

Echoes is a limited mystery thriller series about two identical twins, Leni and Gina (Michelle Monaghan), who share a dangerous secret. Since they were children, Leni and Gina have secretly swapped lives, culminating in a double life as adults. They share two homes, two husbands, and a child. But their perfectly choreographed life is thrown into disarray when one of the sisters goes missing. Get ready for plenty of confusion and plot twists.

    Selling The OC, August 24th

Whilst waiting for another season of Selling Sunset, we’ve got Selling The OC to binge watch. A fresh set of realtors square off, competing to establish themselves at The Oppenheim Group’s second office on the Orange County coast. Will the pressure prove too much for these agents to handle? If it’s anything like Selling Sunset, you can expect a stylish wardrobe from the cast, jaw-droppingly gorgeous and expensive homes and a good square footage of drama. Will there be any realtors able to rival Christine and Chrishell?

    Me Time, August 26th

When a stay-at-home dad finds himself with some “me time” for the first time in years while his wife and kids are away, he reconnects with his former best friend for a wild weekend that nearly upends his life. Turns out, his mate is still a massive party animal whose attitude to clothing is often optional and has planned a Burning Man-style birthday party in the desert. But perhaps this is just what this stay-at-home dad needs? Starring Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg, and written and directed by I Love You Man‘s John Hamburg, you can expect plenty of laughs in this new Netflix film.
