Prepare to be enchanted by these magical candlelight concerts at Central Hall Westminster…
This year a series of magical candlelight concerts are coming to the stunning Central Hall Westminster to captivate movie buffs, ballet aficionados and music fans with shows dedicated to our age’s most famous musical masterpieces. The candlelit venue provides the perfect setting for an intimate and relaxing evening, immersing you in the familiar sounds of Hans Zimmer’s film scores, Tchiavosky’s Swan Lake and the musical compositions of Ludovico Einaudi. Here’s what you can expect!
You’ll hear Hans Zimmer’s sensational compositions played by a talented string quartet on stage, including well-known pieces from Pirates of the Caribbean, The Da Vinci Code, Sherlock Holmes, Gladiator, Inception, The Crown, and more. The concert takes place on March 18 and May 6, and you can get your tickets here.
You can also fall under the spell of Tchiavosky’s Swan Lake on April 9. The bewitching candlelight concert not only features beautiful compositions from Tchaikovsky, Strauss and other composers – performed by a sensational string quartet – but also treats you to a mesmerising ballet performance. Take a seat amidst the sea of glowing candlelight, sit back and prepare to be swept away by wondrous waltzes and gorgeous melodies.
Meanwhile, the works of masterful composer Ludovico Einaudi will fill Central Hall on February 26, March 19 and May 21, celebrating a modern music legend. Talented pianist Fionnuala Ward will serenade you with renditions of Nuvole Bianche, Primavera, I Giorni, and more, and when combined with the gently flickering candlelight, it’s a concert that’ll leave you utterly at peace. You can pick up your tickets for that one here.
Each will feature two performances – one at 7pm, and a late show at 9:30pm or 9:45pm – so you can fit these magical music moments neatly into your day. You won’t find a more special venue, either; Central Hall Westminster is a Grade-II listed building that’s played host to some historic events, including the first UN public address back in 1946, and the BBC’s annual New Year’s Eve concert that welcomes in each new year. It’s been a public meeting place since 1912, and has welcomed figures including Mahatma Gandhi, Winnie Mandela, and Mikhail Gorbachev through its doors – so isn’t it time you paid a visit here?
