The Science Museum is partnering up with Pride in London, for the latest in their much-loved Lates events to mark 50 years of Pride. Throughout the evening there will be the opportunity to take in live performances, watch documentaries, participate in Q&As and workshops, and much more.

For a dose of fun and celebration, you can drop in to the silent disco, Exploring Space, DJed by gal-dem columnist and DJ Aisha Mirza. Or put your knowledge of “all things a little bit fruity” to the test in the Pride Pub Quiz. Be sure to also take in one of the ongoing performances from up and coming burlesque and cabaret drag artists. Among them drag duo Adam All and Apple Derrieres, Romeo De La Cruz, Dolly Trolley, Kim Moan Ho, and more.

A special, self-guided tour will be available for those interested in seeing the museum in a new light. Seeing Things Queerly invites visitors to explore the queer history behind some of items in the museum’s collection. Meanwhile, the IMAX: The Ronson Theatre will host a special showing of George Michael Freedom Uncut – a new feature-length documentary that Michael was heavily involved in until his passing in 2016.

The 50 years of Pride Lates will be both celebratory and thought-provoking. And there will be no shying away from discussions of the issues that disproportionately affect the LGBTQ+ community. Q&A’s and talks will discuss a wide range of topics, from the importance of queer spaces, to sexual health, to the AIDS vaccine, and the history and modern reality of living with HIV. There will also be the opportunity to hear stories from the LGBTQ+ community that run across the past 50 years. Attendants can even add their own stories to the London Metropolitan Archives memory box.

Tickets are necessary to gain entry to the Science Museum’s Lates events. But they are free. Certain workshops/experiences may require payment. The 50 years of Pride Lates is on Wednesday June 29, and runs from 18.30 – 22.00. Lates are only for those 18+.
