Imad Alarnab, the founder of Imad’s Syrian Kitchen, along with his co-founders Michalis Ntais and Christos Georgogiannopoulos, is celebrating the food of the Eastern Mediterranean at his Somerset House cafe, deli and restaurant Aram. The light-flooded space overlooking the river serves baked goods, salads, brekkies, lunches and other dishes inspired by Syria, Turkey, Cyprus, Jordan and beyond.
As well as bakes like za’atar croissants and halva brownies, the menu includes:
- roasted aubergine salad wth chickpeas, confit red pepper, tahini, pomegranate, parsley and dill
- curry cauliflower with rocket, red chilli, parsley and black onion seeds
- potato rosti with house cured sumac trout, poached eggs and coriander oil
- slow-roasted lamb shoulder with basmati rice and cashews
The drinks list is just as good, ranging from cardamom spiced Arabic coffee and Damascus iced tea to sumac Bloody Marys and shatta Margaritas.
