Updated (May 13, 2024): Frozen 3′Its official release date has been announced, along with new quotes from the cast and producers Frozen 3 teasing the plot of the film.

After both are successful Frozen and Frozen 2which have grossed a total of $2.7 billion at the worldwide box office, the third round in the region Frozen franchising was inevitable.
This happens when Disney focuses on known quantities and shines a light on sequels to past hits instead of new and unproven ideas. Among these are new sequels Frozen 3, Toy Story 5and Zootopia 2 among others.
Is Frozen 3 Confirmed?
During The Walt Disney Company’s first quarter 2023 financial results conference call, Bob Iger confirmed that Frozen 3 is officially in the works.
Meanwhile Frozen 2 director Jennifer Lee told Deadline in 2019 “(he felt) very ready” he also left the door open for the triple, saying: “Time will tell if we have more story to tell or if anyone even wants it:”
“I know this sounds crazy, but I still hope we did the right thing”Frozen 2′. I am still in the overwhelming position that our children just went out into the world. Everything feels final, but also bittersweet. Time will tell if we have more story to tell or if anyone even wants it. So there it is. (laughs) At the moment I feel very ready.”
And it looks like Disney wants it, as the studio continues to invest in sequels to some of its biggest franchises.
During the February 2023 announcement, Iger stated, “I’m so happy to announce that we have sequels in the works” for “some of our most popular franchises” (via Deadline):
“Today I am pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works at our animation studios for our most popular franchises ‘Toy Story’, ‘Frozen’ and ‘Zootopia’. We will have more to say about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we lean to our existing brands and franchises.”
Just months later, Disney went even further by announcing a fourth film Frozen franchise with little details from either known film (per Good morning America):
“Well, I’ll give you a little surprise, Michael. Frozen 3 is in the works, and ‘Frozen 4’ might be in the works. And I don’t have much to say about those movies right now. , but Jenn Lee, who created Frozen, the original ‘Frozen ” and ‘Frozen 2’ is hard at work with his team at Disney Animation on not one, but actually two stories.”
When is Frozen 3 coming out?
Although it took a while Frozen 3 to get a date, the animated trio was confirmed for a 2026 release in February 2024.
In early 2024, during the quarterly earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed a new plan for the studio, including a release date. Frozen 3.
As part of the announcement, the Disney executive laid out his plans for the film, including its November 25, 2026 debut.
This was despite rumors that the film would be released sometime in 2025; however, they turned out to be wrong, as Disney is lining up a third Frozen movie 2026 to be released.
Which Actors Are Returning For Frozen 3?
Although the entire cast Frozen 3 has not been confirmed, Josh Gad, who plays Olaf the living snowman, has announced his return for Frozen 3 via Twitter.
“Excited to return to… The Unknown.”
Idina Menzel was confirmed to join Gad’s Olaf in the animated trilogy. In an interview with Billboard, the Broadway star revealed that he was part of the film, but “(doesn’t) know much:”
“I don’t know much. To be completely honest, they teased it for us and I don’t know. They don’t show you the script. They don’t show you anything. I just know, yeah we’re going to do one and that’s it, so I’m like cool that I can pay my bills.”
Anna star Kirsten Bell has displayed a similar level of coyness when asked about the film, but is only willing to say she’s a part of it and nothing else.

Will Elsa get a girlfriend in Frozen 3?
Story details for the item Frozen 3 remains rare, but there have been rumors about Elsa’s sexuality and that Elsa will get a girlfriend in the future Frozen sequel.
An earlier rumor indicated that Disney is going to give Elsa a female love interest. Interestingly, a rumor indicated that this would take place in the Frozen prequel, which could hint at what’s to come Frozen 3 is actually a prequel.
Other than that, as for the upcoming three-part story of the animation, it has only been hinted that there will be one “amazing,” by Frozen produced by Peter Del Vecho:
“Look, we only do sequels if we think there’s enough of a story to tell. They’re working on it in development, I’m focused on ‘Wish.’ But it’s exciting what they’re working on. I’ll say whatever. when you read about it publicly, we’re not haven’t said anything about it, so it’s all guesswork, but I think it’s going to be amazing.”

Is it safe to play Disney on Frozen 3?
Like Frozen, Zootopiaand long-term A toy story franchises have proven to be lucrative properties for Disney, so it makes sense for the company to return to these characters and stories.
And while fans of the franchise are certainly excited about the news, there’s also the question of whether Iger and company are playing it safe instead of continuing to pursue more original animated stories.
If so, this could be due to the poor reception of Walt Disney Animation’s latest original film, A strange worldwhich failed after its late 2022 release.
It will be interesting to see how quickly in the coming months Frozen 3production begins and which of the announced sequels debuts first.
