The Slow Readers Club – O2 Ritz, Manchester

December 5, 2024

Critically acclaimed Manchester band The Slow Readers Club have announced a run of shows throughout November and December 2024.

Completed by Aaron Starkie (vocals) Kurtis Starkie (guitar) James Ryan (bass) and David Whitworth (drums), The Slow Readers Club first established a loyal following with two self-released albums: 2011’s eponymous debut and 2015’s ‘Cavalcade’.

Aaron’s lyrics upscaled from the personal to the political and dystopian with ‘Build A Tower’ , ‘The Joy Of The Return’ and ‘91 Days In Isolation’. Their sound has constantly evolved, their core being anthemic electro-rock boasting the noir lustre of Interpol, Alt-J, The Maccabees and Depeche Mode.

Tickets go on sale here at 10am today (April 12).

Rianne Downey – Gorilla, Manchester

April 26, 2024

Singer-songwriter Rianne Downey is heading out on a 15-date UK and Ireland tour this month.

Without wasting a second of her own romantic traumas and tussles with self-doubt and documenting the seemingly inevitable victories that her art, pride and belief achieve over any obstacle thrown in her way, her recent EP release, ‘Method To My Madness’, is courageously autobiographical yet a gift to anyone experiencing the same.

Having opened her 2023 festival account at Liverpool’s city-centre-wide Sound City and The Great Escape in Brighton, Rianne recently revealed she’ll be joining Paul Heaton at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
