Manchester’s Freight Island is coming to the capital

With a capacity of over 1000, Freight Brixton, opening adjacent to Brixton Village Market, will be the biggest open-air venue in London. A food, drink and culture hub, the rooftop spot will boast four kitchens, an Italian-inspired aperitivo bar and a tequila-led bar from Casamigos.

Food will be a big feature of Freight Brixton; in addition to the four food concepts, one of which is live-fire, the likes of Reggae Brunch and Maggi Brunch will be passing through, as will food festivals like Taco Fest and Bite Twice presents Dine Hard.

Music will also be massive up on the roof. Soul of the South, in collab with Cross The Tracks, will showcase the best jazz, funk and soul every Thursday. Across May, June and July, the likes of David Rodigan, Laurence Guy, Ghosts Of Garage and Dimitri From Paris will all be on the decks. You’ll also be able to catch all the major sports action at Freight Brixton too, with a World Cup Fanzone taking over the venue in the summer.

Speaking about the opening, Dan Morris, Managing Director of Freight Island, said: “Freight Brixton is an incredible rooftop in the heart of south London and will be a place for locals and the city beyond to come together and enjoy themselves with the best food, drink and music. I cannot wait for us to get this open – we have seen what creating these kinds of spaces can do for a community in Manchester, and we are all very excited to build something just as special in Brixton.”
