Airfryers are acclaimed for their versatility – helping chefs make everything from mouth-watering meals to crispy French fries. With National Pizza Day on the horizon, experts at Philips, the inventors of the air fryer, have shared their top five recipes for perfect air fryer pizza.

The five pizza-themed recipes are all ready in under 20 minutes. Martin Senders, Philips Airfryer Chef said: “The Airfryer is your secret weapon when it comes to making the perfect pizza at home.

“Say goodbye to soggy, bad dough and welcome a perfectly crispy crust every time. Whether you’re looking for a healthier, homemade option for your Friday night or a quick and easy lunchtime snack, your airfryer will take you to Italy in a snap.”

Gorgonzola apple pizza

A twist on a classic, this sweet and creamy pizza is sure to be a treat.

Preparation day: 12 minutes

Cooking time: 4 minutes

  1. Cut the apple into thick slices and chop the gorgonzola cheese.

  2. Spread pizza cheese and chopped garlic on the tortilla and cover with another tortilla.

  3. Spread pizza cheese, gorgonzola cheese and apples over the other tortilla.

  4. Place the tortillas in an airfryer basket and cook for 4 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.

  5. Serve hot.

Mini pizzas with cauliflower crust

Giving new meaning to veggie-out, the cauli-tastic crust will have you going back for seconds.

Preparation day: 13 minutes

Cooking time: 11 minutes

Ingredients:

  1. Combine chia seeds with water in a small cup and let steep for ten minutes.

  2. Cut the cauliflower into small pieces, discarding the leaves. Place in a food processor, add oats, soaked chia seeds, 20g parmesan cheese and olive oil. Process to a smooth dough.

  3. Knead balls from the cauliflower mixture and roll out into small pizza crusts, approx. 8 cm in diameter.

  4. Place the cauliflower pizzas in the air fryer and cook for 6 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.

  5. Top the pizzas with tomato sauce, fresh oregano, feta cheese and Parmesan cheese.

  6. Cook for another 5 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.

  7. Serve hot.

Pizza muffins with cheese

Perfect for on-the-go snacks, these savory muffins are the perfect addition to any lunchbox.

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 20 minutes

Serves: 6

  1. Finely chop the red pepper. Chop the spring onions. Mix curd, egg, red pepper, spring onion, corn and warm water in a bowl. Add spelled flour, baking powder, chia seeds, grated Gouda cheese, salt, pepper and dried oregano.

  2. Open the dough in muffin tins and sprinkle with grated Gouda cheese.

  3. Place the muffins in the air fryer and bake for 20 minutes at 160 degrees Celsius.

  4. Serve hot.

Pizza Lava Toast

A true pizza lover’s dream, with enough cheese and tomato to send you into a food coma.

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 11 minutes

Serves: 2

Ingredients:

  • 3 slices of brioche bread

  • 150 g of cheese

  • 3 slices of ham

  • 3 tablespoons of pizza sauce

  • 2 tablespoons mushroom slices

  • 1 pinch of dried oregano

Method:

  1. Make an indentation in the center of a brioche slice by pressing it down with a spoon. Remove the center of the second slice, leaving the third slice intact.

  2. Take the last, intact slice of brioche, place a slice of ham in the middle and arrange the cheese around the edges. Place the indented slice of brioche on top and layer it with another slice of ham and cheese. Place the hollow brioche slice on top and fill with pizza sauce. Add the last slice of ham and cheese. Top with remaining cheese, mushrooms and dried oregano.

  3. Airfry for 11 minutes at 170 degrees Celsius.

  4. Serve hot.

Eggplant Pizza Bites

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 13 minutes

Serves: 3

Ingredients:

– 1 eggplant

– 25g cooked ham

– 40g grated Gouda cheese

– 3 tablespoons of tomato sauce

– 2 pinches of salt

– 1 teaspoon of oregano

Method:

1. Trim the edges of the aubergine and slice it into 1 cm thick slices

2. Place in your air fryer and cook for 11 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.

3. Dice the cooked ham and grate the cheese. Top the eggplant slices with this, along with tomato sauce and spices.

4. Bake for another 2 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.

5. Serve.
