Finsbury Park will connect directly to the mains grid for the first time as part of a sustainability drive led by promoter Festival Republic.
The new power supply, built specifically for large-scale events, will allow Festival Republic to run stages and other key areas using mains electricity instead of onsite generators.
Melvin Benn, managing director of Festival Republic, said: “Installing a purpose-built mains power supply in Finsbury Park continues our long-term commitment to producing sustainable large-scale outdoor events and festivals, as well as lowering the impact of event operations in the park and to the local community.
“We’re proud to be spearheading the transition towards outdoor music spaces run entirely on renewable energy sources.”
Peray Ahmet, leader of Haringey Council, said: “We’re delighted to be working in tandem with our partners at Festival Republic to help improve the local environment in Finsbury Park.
“Connecting the festival site to mains power cuts emissions and enables us to deliver the same fantastic music experience in a much more sustainable way.”
