A festival dedicated to all things mud is coming to London. Is tHaT JuSt aNoThEr wAy oF SaYiNg gLaStOnBuRy fEsTiVaL? Well… not in this instance, no.

Hitting the London Wetlands Centre at half term in February, this might be what’s known as a festival of unbridled joy for children of a certain age, and sheer horror for parents doing their laundry afterwards.

Mudfest 2025

Taking over the London Wetland Centre for nine days, kids will be able to mould the mud and throw the mud and jump around in the mud the site undergoes a festival entirely dedicated to… mud. It’s not just mucking about, though, there will be a chance to learn about how the beaks of birds make for hunting and sifting for food in muddy habitats.

Activities across the weekend include mud art, animal footprint making, mud and spoon races, wormery displays, seed bomb making with earth and wildflower seeds to decorate for the coming spring, nest building, and more. WWT has also promised to keep open their mud kitchen all day long, where you can step in and ‘cook up a storm with our special mud kitchen equipment’.

Speaking on the festival, Alexia Hollinshead, General Manager at WWT London, said: “No-one does mud quite like us! It’s the stuff our super-powered wetlands are made of, and it offers so much fun. Whether you fancy mixing it up, building with it, painting with it, or jumping in it, there’s a great adventure at WWTLondon this February that families won’t want to miss!”

Will it be as muddy as Glasto? You’ll have to judge when you arrive with your wellies!

Mudfest 2025 takes place at London Wetland Centre (Queen Elizabeth Walk, SW13 9WT) on February 15-23. Read more about it here.
