EXO Baekhyun made K-pop and sports fans happy by confirming that he will be singing at the opening ceremony of the 2024 MLB World Tour Seoul Series!
On March 12, his agency INB100 released its official position regarding the participation of the CEO and artist in the opening game of the 2024 American Major League Baseball regular season, which will be held for the first time in South Korea.
EXO Baekhyun to sing Korean and American national anthems with Lena Park
On March 11, Korean media reported that EXO’s Baekhyun would be one of the singers who would continue the official event of singing the Korean and American national anthems performed at the start of the match. He will take the stage alongside Park Jung Hyun, also known as Lena Park, a Korean-American singer nicknamed “National Fairy”.
Reports further indicate that the two were carefully selected by the secretariat, considering their status and importance which will reflect on the opening game of the Major League.
On that day, EXO’s agency, INB100, posted their position saying:
“Baekhyun will participate in the ‘MLB World Tour Seoul Series 2024,’ the opening game of the 2024 American Major League Baseball regular season, which will be held in Korea for the first time.
Baekhyun will sing the national anthem and the US national anthem unaccompanied during the game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on March 21.
He is expected to show his unmatched power and his performance is also expected to add to the festive energy in a game that baseball fans around the world pay attention to.
Last November, Baek also performed at the opening ceremony of the 2023 LoL World Cup Finals, and his global moves encompassing both music and sports were praised by K-pop and sports fans.
With this, attention shifts to how he will elevate his status in both areas with his next appearance on March 21.
EXO’s Baekhyun has continued success after leaving SM Entertainment
Although there were initial concerns following EXO Baekhyun’s departure from SM Entertainment, the idol has proven his growing fame and influence by performing various activities as CEO and solo artist of his own label, INB100.
Previously, he successfully held a nationwide tour fan meeting “Snack Party” across Korea, including Seoul, Gwangju and Busan in January and February.
In March, he will then debut his first offline solo concert, “Lonsdaleite”, at the KSPO Dome in Seoul Olympic Park on the 16th and 17th.
This tour will continue in Asia until June, visiting various stops such as Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Thailand.
