Edinburgh Fine Dining Restaurant Fhior closes in almost seven years.
The chef and co -owner Scott Smith announced closing earlier this week via Instagram. He wrote: “After seven incredible years, we have made a deeply difficult decision to get our restaurant Fhior.”
Fhior, derived from the Gaelian word for ‘TRUE’, opened in 2018 and performs the UK and Ireland in the Michelin Guide.
Smith explained that “very difficult hospitality climate has taken its records” for him and his owner and his wife Laura Smith. He also mentioned “personal and practical factors”, including the arrival of his other child and the desire to spend more time with a growing family to close.
Smith, who appeared in the Great British menu in 2021, said that the FHIOR team had been involved in the closure and that they had been given time to find new opportunities.
Fhior will hold its final service on June 1.
Smith revealed that in the coming months, he and Laura will focus on growing the Blank Plate Creative restaurant consulting service.
