You Can Now Buy Butterbeer At King’s Cross Station

Butterbeer: now available to buy at King’s Cross

If you’re feeling parched while waiting for your train at King’s Cross (whether or not it’s the Hogwarts Express), you can now quench your thirst with a butterbeer.

The Harry Potter shop at Platform 9 ¾ has started selling the fictional-but-actual brew by the bottle—along with Harry Potter Studios in Watford, and sister shops at Heathrow and Gatwick airports (the latter is temporarily closed).

The butterscotch flavoured non-alcoholic nectar—which has more than a hint of cream soda about it—comes in souvenir glass bottles with collectable labels designed by MinaLima.

You can buy it from the Harry Potter shop at King’s Cross station. Image: Shutterstock

It’s £4.95 a pop, although if you buy it online it’s £5.95—about the price of your average pint of craft beer. Better magic up some cash, then.

The news has also led to the revelation of what is actually IN butterbeer (its official incarnation, anyway—there have been numerous bootlegs). But if you believe in magic, you might want to look away now:

Carbonated water, sugar, glucose syrup, pear juice concentrate, natural flavours, acid (lactic acid), fermented ginger root extract (water, glucose syrup, ginger root, pear juice concentrate, yeast), concentrate (apple, carrot, hibiscus), quillaia extract.
