Doug Gurr is now the permanent chair of the CMA following an open competition for the role.
Doug Gurr has today [Friday 27 February 2026} been confirmed as the new chair of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
He will lead the CMA for a five year term, continuing the work he undertook as intermin chair, to boost growth and business confidence while ensuring consumers remain protected – all delivered in partnership with CMA Chief Executive Sarah Cardell,
