What is it?
Doro’s candy bar phone has a 2.8inch screen and a 3MP camera complete with a flash. It can be used with a 3G/4G sim card, can connect to wifi and has Facebook and WhatsApp builtin. It also supports a MicroSD card, so the storage space can be expanded.
GHI expert verdict
It’s very simple to use, has a great battery life and an emergency assistance button. When pressed, this will alert assigned contacts to the phone’s whereabouts so is great for elderly or vulnerable users. The 2.8inch screen is easy to see, it’s hearing aid compatible and calls are clear without distortion.
The good
This candy bar phone has an interface similar to those found on Doro’s smartphones. The home screen is broken down into four simple icons (call, view, send and menu), making it very simple to navigate. Text messages are easy to read and displayed in a thread for each number, so you can easily review the conversation. We like the remote access feature that allows friends or family to use an app to adjust settings such as the phone’s text size, volume and contacts, even when they’re not there. The battery lasts 15 days between charges, it can also play music stored on a MicroSD card and has a web browser, too.

There’s no app store so other services, such as Twitter or banking apps, are unavailable.
