Roast Productions has confirmed a UK tour for the European premiere of Dog Man: The Musicalfollowing multiple sell-out seasons in the United States. Based on Dav Pilkey’s phenomenally successful children’s book series, the show will visit venues nationwide, including a previously announced run at the Southbank Centre from 29 July to 16 August.
The musical is recommended for ages five and up and brings to life the adventures of Dog Man, the part-dog, part-human hero created by best friends George and Harold. The story follows Dog Man as he attempts to outsmart Petey the evil cat, battle cyborg fish Flippy and his Beasty Buildings, and save the city while still trying to be a very good boy.
Tour dates begin at Leicester Curve from 16 to 19 July, before heading to Crewe Lyceum from 21 to 23 July. The run at the Southbank Centre follows from 29 July to 16 August, with a press performance on 4 August at 2.30pm. The production then travels to Southend Palace, Hertford Beam, Wolverhampton Grand, Eastbourne Devonshire Park, Darlington Hippodrome, Torquay Princess Theatre, Halifax Victoria, Cardiff Wales Millennium Centre, Fareham Live and Wycombe Swan. Further dates for 2027 will be announced.
 
 
 
 
Produced by special arrangement with TWTheatricals, the musical features a book and lyrics by Kevin Del Aguila, music by Brad Alexander and direction and choreography by Jen Wineman. Scenic design is by Timothy R. Mackabee, costumes by Heidi Leigh Hanson, lighting by David Lander, sound by Emma Wilk and orchestrations by Lloyd Kikoler. For the European premiere, Paul Herbert joins as Musical Director, while Pearson Casting serve as Casting Director.
The Pilkey’s crowd Dog Man books have sold more than 70 million copies worldwide and been translated into 48 languages. A DreamWorks animated film adaptation was released in 2025 to wide acclaim. Pilkey himself was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia as a child, and the Dog Man stories celebrate positivity, empathy and the triumph of creativity.
