Wembley Stadium sees some of the biggest musicians take to the stage for what is often a sell-out concert. This week, Taylor Swift will bring her army of Swifties to West London for an unforgettable leg of The Eras Tour.

Many fans will wonder if they need to put on their waterproofs to prepare for rain or sunscreen for sunny skies. Unfortunately for fans, Wembley has confirmed it has a roof, but it’s not closing all the way.

The roof does not cover the pitch (if it is a match day) and only covers some of the seats. It explains that if the rain falls at an angle, people sitting on level 1 can get wet. During concerts, people with standing tickets are exposed to the elements.

Wembley Stadium also does not move the retractable roof while people are inside.

A spokesperson wrote: “This is how Wembley Stadium has been designed as it allows the playing surface to receive maximum sunlight. Wembley Stadium does not move the retractable roof while visitors are in the Stadium.”

Wembley Stadium capacity

Wembley Stadium has a matchday capacity of 90,000, making it the largest sports venue in the UK and the second largest in Europe. There is room for 25,000 fans in the standing area. With the number of concert seats plus standing room, around 80,000 people are expected to attend each Eras Tour performance in London.
