It’s 1996, and the ice arena is filled to the brim with quiet anticipation, as families await for the show to commence. My four-year-old self is part of the crowd waiting “patiently”, using my indoor voice to ask my grandma a thousand questions about what we’re going to see. As Pluto slides onto the ice, I’m hooked. I cannot believe it: I am seeing my favourite cartoon character in the flesh, leaving my tiny self starstruck. Disney on Ice was one of my first childhood memories, and it’s officially celebrating its centenary this year.
Disney on Ice is bringing its ‘100 Years of Wonder’ show to the OVO Arena Wembleykicking off the Spring tour on February 20 and staying until February 23. The beloved family event will bring Mickey, Minnie, and all of their Disney friends back to life, featuring some of the most iconic songs and films. And yes, ‘Moana’, ‘Toy Story’ and ‘Charm’ are all on the agenda!
The organisers posted about the event, saying: “Celebrate with Mickey and friends while reliving the adventures of your favourite Disney stories at Disney On Ice presents 100 Years of Wonder.
Set sail with Moana and Maui to save the island of Motunui, and see Mirabel and the stars of Encanto live on ice as they learn everyone has a special gift. Bring back summer with Anna, Elsa, and Olaf, and sing and dance as the Disney Princesses make their dreams come true.
And be inspired by the true friendships of the Toy Story gang, and Dory and Nemo. The magic of Disney is closer than ever before when Disney On Ice presents 100 Years of Wonder comes to London.”
