We are delighted to announce the opening of Dhakaah, a casual dining restaurant located in Camden Market’s Hawley Wharf, bringing the best of Bangladeshi cuisine to London audiences. The grand opening will be held on the 24thth July, with several soft launch activations before the main event.

Dhakaah is a celebration of Bangladeshi street food and specialties, named after the country’s bustling capital, Dhaka. The menu is divided into bar snacks, small plates and larger plates. Open the meal with a cold beer and Fuchka, Bangladesh’s answer to Pani Puri with spiced potato, chickpea and spiced tamarind water; Peyaju, deliciously fresh dhal fritters or Shingara – a shortbread dough filled with soft potato and spiced vegetables. Larger plates include Beef Kathi Roll, a heavily spiced mezbani beef curry, wrapped in handmade parota; and the real highlight, the Chicken Roast, a free-range chicken leg caramelized with onions, nuts and cardamom forward masala spices. A selection of Kulfia completes the menu.

On the drinks side, the focus is on bringing amazing Bangladeshi products to the London audience. The house gin and tonic is flavored with Bangladesh lemon, a hybrid of lime and mandarin orange, making for an extremely refreshing G&T. The Dhakaah Dirty Martini is based on the Jolpai, a giant olive-like fruit found in the Indian subcontinent. Shortly after the restaurant’s opening, launching its own brand beer selection – a perfect match for the intoxicating spices of the main menu.

Soft drinks include Lassi and refreshing yogurt-based Borhani, made from natural yogurt, green chili, black salt, coriander and mint. The restaurant prioritizes the use of British free-range produce, which ensures the highest quality of the menu. Some ingredients are sourced directly from Bangladesh, including Kalijeera rice, a small Bangladeshi variety with a distinct nutty aroma and delicate texture.

Dhakaah is part of a wider vision to bring Bangladeshi culture and its distinctive cuisine to the UK, highlighting the individuality and diversity of this often overlooked culture. Bringing the essence of Bangladesh to British audiences in a way that has never been done before, Dhakaah aims to update the representation of Bangladesh in the UK and bring it into the mainstream.
