Further details are not entirely clear yet, but Bungie’s official website confirmed that there will be a new story campaign, a new destination called The Pale Heart, three new Supers and tons of armour and weapons to unlock.

Three different packages of the DLC are available to players: the standard edition, The Final Shape DLC plus an annual pass and a stunning collector’s edition. Each version comes with different perks and, ultimately, varying price points.

When is the Destiny 2: The Final Shape release date?

Bungie has confirmed that The Final Shape expansion for Destiny 2 will arrive on 4th June 2024.

After initially being announced in May 2023 for an early 2024 release date, it was then pushed back to June to allow for a “bigger and bolder vision” for the finished product.

This also resulted in the Into the Light content update arriving in April to keep players occupied in the meantime.

The Final Shape breaks tradition for Destiny 2 expansions, as content will be released in three separate episodes, according to Comic Book Resources.

The site says that each episode will last for around four months, and will be broken down further into different acts that will be launched six weeks apart.

Formatting the DLC like this means that it could easily run into early next year.

What do we know about Destiny 2’s Cayde-6 comeback?

Voiced by Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle), Exo Hunter Cayde-6 left the realm of the living back in 2018, after being killed as part of the Forsaken expansion.

While Bungie previously assured fans that the character would remain dead, it’s great to see Cayde return after six years away. No doubt this will be an impactful reunion.

With a reassuring round chambered in Cayde’s signature Ace of Spades, we’re just glad to have the former Vanguard leader back by our sides to face all of the new challenges.

Is there a Destiny 2: The Final Shape trailer?

The first teaser trailer for Destiny 2: The Final Shape was revealed in May 2023.

It begins with Warlock Vanguard Ikora Rey recounting the activities of Destiny over the past few years.

They highlight how the group has “slain gods” and “vanquished nightmares” and fought “alongside those who we once fought against”, before mentioning what it would be like to have Cayde-6 back.

The camera pans up from a campfire to reveal Cayde-6, who was presumed dead. They express their wish that they could’ve been there too.

The trailer cuts to a shot of them on the edge of a cliff, overlooking a suitably Middle-Earth-looking landscape with an ominous triangle in the sky.

The official reveal trailer for Destiny 2: Into the Light was then unveiled in August 2023.

We see all of the guardians coming together for what appears to be one final fight, including members from The Witch Queen, Lightfall and the return of Cayde-6. Ikora Rey then asks all guardians to “rise” one last time. It’s certainly got an epic feel about it. Watch below:
