David Mulcahy is to leave his role at contract catering company Sodexo after nearly two decades with the company.

David Mulcahy, who joined Sodexo from Compass in 2006 as director of craft and food development, is leaving the company after nearly 20 years. Mulcahy, who most recently served as director of food innovation and sustainability, played a key role in supporting chef development, driving food sourcing strategies and fostering strategic partnerships across the business.

David Mulcahy’s departure follows that of Sean Hayley, who recently announced he would step down as chief executive at the end of the year, marking another high-profile departure.

Mulcahy said: “Recently I have been reflecting on the incredible and memorable times I have spent with Sodexo for nearly 20 years.

“Each chapter has had unforgettable moments. So many that it’s hard to pick one out.

“From holding cooking masterclasses in Hackney for long-term unemployed youth, from taking a Sodexo chef for a year to the tip of Norway in the shadow of the North Pole to fish and cook it under the northern lights.

“For one of the UK’s biggest Salon Culinaires (featuring a DJ and Street food Village) to travel to The Gambia with the World Food Program and UN Stop Hunger to meet, listen and learn from people who face the kind of poverty that makes a difference. you forever.”

Mulcahy has won multiple culinary Olympic and World Cup gold medals both individually and as a member of the UK National Culinary Team.

David Mulcahy received the Outstanding Achievement Award at the inaugural Foodservice Cateys in 2013, recognizing his contribution to promoting catering standards in the industry. He has also been awarded the Craft Guild of Chefs Badge of Merit, where he currently serves as Vice President after previously serving as President.

David Mulcahy is expected to remain involved in the culinary community as coordinator of a number of prestigious competitions including the UK National Chef of the Year, Young National Chef of the Year and The Craft Guild of Chefs Awards. In addition, he will continue in his position as the chairman of FutureChef.

Tracey Smith, Managing Director of Sodexo UK and Ireland Schools and Universities, said: “We would like to thank David for his significant contribution and passion for food and chef development during his career at Sodexo. His commitment to the culinary profession and social impact is widely recognized in business and industry, and we wish him a good future.
