David: The reason I decided to apply for Married At First Sight was actually my parent’s 36th birthday, I was looking through the photos and it made me realize it’s something I want. : What surprised you the most about the MAFS interview/screening process? Did it meet your expectations?

Michelle: I was surprised how long the interview/screening process took. At one point, so much time had passed that I assumed I wasn’t one of the chosen. I wish I had more time to talk to the experts about expectations.

David: The most surprising part of the interview/process was getting a call back because they thought I would be a great candidate for the program. I also enjoyed the workshops, but was shocked when I tried on rings for my ring size. I had never seen a ring on my ring finger which made me question myself if I was really ready to marry a stranger! But at that point I got excited too and hoped they would find me my ride or I would die. Knowing nothing about the show or the process, I came in with an open mind, went with the flow and let things ride.

: What was the most important thing you were looking for in a partner?

Michelle: Kindness and someone who had a similar lifestyle.

David: The most important part that I look for in a partner is someone with strong family ties, a strong woman with a big heart, not selfish, an independent woman who has her own life and is not going to just depend on me. I am in a relationship and can navigate independently when needed.

: What three words would you use to describe your Married at First Sight experience?

Michelle: Learning curve, stressful and personal growth.

David: Life changing, exciting and difficult / stressful.

: How has your view of MAFS changed since you’ve been a part of the program?

Michelle: I think it’s easy to sit and watch a show and judge other people’s actions, but when you’re living it, it’s a lot harder than you might expect. You can come in with the best of intentions and for all the right reasons, but getting married and living with a stranger is so hard.

David: That’s my view
Married at first sight
it hasn’t changed since I hadn’t seen the show and only knew the concept. However, I’ve heard a lot of people say it’s going to be hard and I took it lightly because I’m someone who thinks that hard is what you make hard if you make things easy and take life easy and let things play out. out and everything will fall into place. Positive vibes all day, enjoy the moment and everything will be alright baby!

: Is there anything you would change from the way you were looking for a partner before you were connected to MAFS?

Michelle: I would have been more specific about what I was looking for. I would have emphasized that I am interested in men who are extremely determined and goal-oriented.

David: I think one thing I would change is to refine my definition of what I think is strong and independent and give more insight into what that means to me. But I hold so strongly to family ties, but I also have to be open-minded about what family means to others, because in my eyes, family is everything.

: What answer do you think led the experts to match you with your MAFS mate? Would you change the answer now?

Michelle: I told the experts that I would be willing to meet me with someone who didn’t own their own home, but maybe they needed to be a little more specific.

David: The only thing I think is right for me with my wife is asking for a strong, independent woman, and would I change that? No, but I would clarify it further and explain in more detail what it means to me. I feel like everyone has their own definition.
