A Dagenham fast food outlet and its owner have been ordered to pay more than £12,000 in council costs and fines after a “serious” mole infestation forced it to close for almost a week. In 2022, Barking and Dagenham Council’s food safety team received a complaint about Immz’s Pizza and Kebab from a member of the public concerned about mice and cockroaches.

The fast food outlet, located on Porters Avenue, was forced to close immediately after an environmental health officer found a “high level” lice infestation throughout the premises that was so severe it was deemed a significant health risk to customers and staff. The officer also found the premises had not taken reasonable steps to implement a food safety management system to control the contamination of food within the premises, and there were no hand washing facilities in the kitchen.

Shir Rahman Ghanizada was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154 and Lutfur Rahman Ghanizada was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £261. Immz’s Pizza and Kebab and its owners have together been ordered to pay more than £12,000 in fines and costs to the council. The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) has contacted the premises for comment and is awaiting a response.
