Cookfella’s, who has built a name for themselves in Guisborough since moving there in 2012, have had to issue a statement correcting some of the misunderstanding surrounding the future of the venue.
Despite moving buildings twice previously, questions about the future of the restaurant started to build after regular customers saw the venue on Westgate up for sale online.
But owners Wayne and Helen have now quashed these rumours by issuing a statement – highlighting that it might change who owns the building – but Cookfella’s has no plans to close down.
The statement, which appeared online, read: “We would like to clear up any rumours or misunderstandings around the fact that our landlord has put the ‘building” on the market
“This is a perfectly normal thing to do in the property investment business.
“It does NOT affect OUR business inside the building, it merely changes who we pay our rent to.
“We have a long lease & have no intention of going anywhere else.
“Why would we?! We love where we are, what we do, who we do it with and who we serve it to.”
The statement came as some relief to regulars, who quickly responded to the statement with gratitude for the owners, with one person saying: “I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t have this restaurant to go to.”
The statement from the owners of Cookfella’s added: “Looking forward to welcoming you to our wonderful business soon.
