This November, the long-awaited Christmas at Kew returns, offering a dazzling array of new installations and world premieres that will transform Kew Gardens’ UNESCO World Heritage site into a nighttime wonderland.

Since its inception in 2013, Christmas at Kew has been a much-loved festive favorite and helped pioneer trails of light across the UK. The annual spectacle celebrates nature after dark and gives visitors countless opportunities to create enchanting memories.

This year’s trail promises to bring Kew’s stunning natural architecture to life, with perennial favorites included such as the towering pea-lit trees, a festive funfair and the delightful Christmas Cathedral.

New installations and world premieres

This year’s track will debut two world premieres, with bespoke installations that will be on display to the public for the first time globally.

One of them is ‘Ombre’ by TILT, which will feature a series of giant flowering plants emerging from the landscape in a vibrant spectrum of colours.

Another highlight, ‘Threshold’ by Studio Vertigo, will feature an illuminated helix-like structure bathed in golden yellow light, evoking the warmth and joy of the Christmas season.

Kew Gardens’ Camellia Walk will also be transformed into a snowy path, highlighting the spectacular tree canopy and creating a wintry landscape at the start of the trail.

Additional highlights coming to the event include ‘Fish are Jumping’ by Dutch artists TOER and ‘Mist Arches’ by Culture Creative, which will create an atmospheric atmosphere over Kew’s Lake Crossing.

Festive favourites

Recurring favorites on this year’s trail include the spectacular light show at Temperate House, the evocative Fire Garden and the seasonal selfie spot Christmas Cathedral.

Many of Kew’s striking plants and trees will be illuminated along the trail’s route, allowing visitors to appreciate nature from a new perspective and bask in vibrant colors as dusk falls.

The much-loved Palm House final will also return in 2024, showcasing Kew’s iconic greenhouse in stunning style.

Along the trail, delicious food and drink from independent street food vendors will be available. For an extra touch of magic, visitors can also Book a traditional Christmas dinner at The Botanical Brasserie.

Glow Wild at Wakehurst

At Wakehurst, Kew’s Wild Botanic Gardens in Sussex, Glow Wild will celebrate its 11th year with charming bespoke installations and one of the world’s largest live Christmas trees.

Christmas at Kew promises an unforgettable experience filled with impressive installations and cherished traditions. Whether someone is looking for new adventures or revisiting old favorites, this year’s event offers something magical for everyone.

Tickets for both Christmas at Kew and Glow Wild are now available on the website.
