Look, if there’s one thing London does a LOT of come Christmas time, it’s Christmas lights. When the holidays are in full swing, you can hardly turn down a single street without seeing twinkling lights and colourful festive displays. And you know Chelsea isn’t about to turn down the opportunity to get Festive AF. They’re celebrating the return of the Chelsea Christmas Lights with a jolly old night out as they throw a full-on street party tomorrow (November 18) for those watching the lights get switched on.
On November 18, Father Christmas himself will return to Chelsea to flip the switch and illuminate the Chelsea Christmas Lights. It’s a busy job, going to and fro all over the city (and the world) making appearances and turning on the lights – but someone’s got to do it!
Chelsea Christmas Lights street party
King’s Road will be part-pedestrianised from Sloane Square to Walpole Street to make room for the festive celebrations. The area will be taken up with a Christmas market, and visitors can enjoy a full day of festive fun. It’s sure to be a hit with the whole family! Santa for the kids, mulled wine for the parents. After that, a visit with Santa’s reindeer for the kids, and some face-painting. And then more mulled wine for the parents! And so on, and so forth…
Santa will take to the stage with a ‘little local helper’ to turn on the lights at 5pm. They’ll turn on with a bang and a roar as a fireworks display hits the sky, and a light show plays out over the guests. There will even be a small sprinkling of snow falling over those in attendance. There’s nothing like a bit of snow to really make you feel Christmassy!
