A new piece of research has revealed the cheapest West End shows currently playing. While not all painfully famous, a few of the top ten are household name musicals.
The study, conducted by theatre ticket site SeatPlan, gathered data on what shows were available during March and calculated the average cheapest ticket price for shows on weekdays and weekends. Additionally, the study looked at the top restaurants around the postcodes of each theatre to identify the number of highly rated restaurants under £25 each.
SeatPlan also looked at hotel prices, scaling all the data to find the most affordable theatre to visit for a day. Based on all the info, they revealed London Coliseum is the cheapest theatre, earning an 80.72 score out of 100.
While their 2023/24 season has ended, highly anticipated Spirited Away will be starting on April 30. Tickets for the stage adaptation of the Studio Ghibli film have sold fast – you can shop the remaining from £24.75 directly from London Coliseum or set up an alert for fresh availability with TodayTix.
The Apollo Theatre ranked second on SeatPlan ‘s list. They’re currently showing Mind Mangler: Member of the Tragic Circle, for which tickets start at £15 at ATG and TodayTix and £28 at London Theatre Direct.
The third cheapest theatre to visit in London was the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, currently showing Frozen, the Disney adaptation that needs no introduction. Tickets start at £30 on TodayTix, £34.22 at Love Theatre, and £36 at London Theatre Direct.
