One of the most complicated things when preparing your trip to London is choosing a hotel. The prices in general are expensive and being such a large city it is difficult to choose.
One important thing to keep in mind is that the visitable area of London is very large. To get from Notting Hill to the Tower of London you will need 40 minutes by tube, about an hour by car if there is traffic and two hours walking.
