The owner of Caffè Nero has expanded his portfolio by buying Nottingham coffee brand 200 Degrees.

Founded in 2012 by Rob Darby and Tom Vincent, 200 Degrees operates 21 locations across the Midlands.

The company has its own roastery, an online shopping platform equipped with an order service, and a wholesale store that serves more than 500 customers.

200 Degrees will retain its independent identity as an independent brand within the Nero Group, joining other brands such as Caffè Nero, Coffee#1, Harris+Hoole and Aroma.

The Nero Group now has over 790 stores in the UK, 625 of which are Caffè Nero outlets, and around 1,100 stores in 10 countries.

Gerry Ford, CEO of Nero Group, said: “I am delighted to welcome 200 Degrees to the Caffè Nero family. It is a fantastic brand that emphasizes excellent coffee and service combined with a local community atmosphere that perfectly matches the Nero Group ethos.

“200 Degrees has a solid, loyal customer base and a strong regional position. Our purpose is to support 200 degrees to continue its growth path and allow the brand to operate separately alongside other Nero Group brands.

Stephen Fern, CEO of 200 Degrees, said: “Nero Group is a great partner for us with its commitment to premium coffee and strong values as a family business. With this new partnership, we look forward to introducing even more people to our beans, our people and our passion for creating experiences to remember.”

AlixPartners acted as the exclusive financial advisor to 200 Degrees Coffee on the acquisition. Additional terms of the deal have not been announced.

Caffè Nero was founded in 1997.
