With Christmas just around the corner, many of us are eagerly anticipating our favorite festive traditions. One such tradition is decorating a gingerbread house, an iconic Christmas activity that often goes uneaten due to its divisive taste.
However, Cadbury’s build-your-own chocolate house, which sells out every year, is back for 2024 and promises to be devoured in no time. Emma Gill, parenting editor at the Manchester Evening News, tried it with her family two years ago and found it a “kill” to put together. You can read Emma’s review here.
The Cadbury Chocolate House Kit, available from Boots for £15 and Cadbury for £14, includes a whopping 840g of chocolate to build your own chocolate house.
The set includes Dairy Milk Bars, a Dairy Milk Winter Bar, Cadbury Flakes and white buttons. Don’t worry if you’re not tech-minded – the £15 package comes with instructions on how to put it together.
Whether you plan to wait until Christmas Eve or start building on December 1st, it’s guaranteed to be a fun activity for the whole family. While the Cadbury Chocolate House Kit is yet to receive a review at Boots, it has an impressive average star rating of 4.6 out of five from over 4,660 reviews on Amazon, despite not currently being available on the site.
Shoppers are flocking to rave reviews for the Cadbury Chocolate House Kit, deeming it not only delicious but an excellent Christmas activity. One buyer raved, “This was a perfect Christmas gift for anyone who loves chocolate. I was pleasantly surprised at how much chocolate was actually in the set, so definitely value for money.”
Another shared her past frustrations, noting: “Over the years we’ve tried countless gingerbread houses that never actually hold together or get eaten. I ordered this and we were all so impressed, it was relatively easy and actually holds together, especially when you decorate it.
“It’s also been eaten as it’s all bars of dairy milk. Looks brilliant and a good size. Worth the extra bit more than a gingerbread house. My kids are 16 to seven and they all helped make it and enjoyed it.”
Meanwhile, another chimed in: “This was a great Christmas activity with kids. We don’t love gingerbread in our house so this was the perfect option for anyone who doesn’t love Cadbury. The Christmas tree bars were a lovely touch. It lasted surprisingly long on the counter before it was devoured.”
Still, amid the high ratings, one customer gave a more moderate three stars, criticizing the batch’s sweetness: “There was way more chocolate than fillings in it. The fillings were very sweet and tasted chemical. Not a fan.”
Amazon also offers Nestlé’s The Big Chocolate Box, with 30 full-sized bars of KitKat, KitKat Chunky, Yorkie, Aero and Munchies. Shoppers can get it with an 18 per cent discount, bringing the price down from £22.16 to just £18.18. Or for the ultimate Christmas present for all chocoholics, there’s the £44 Lindt Classic case, packed with a whopping 1.3kg of chocolate.
