A 34-year-old man has been ordered to pay more than £6,000 after pleading guilty to supplying illegal vapes and nicotine products to customers.

Mr Hissamuddin Siddiqi, of Wormwood Street, London, was visited by the Corporation’s Trading Standards team in September 2023.

Officers were carrying out a lawful inspection at his business, trading as Fixnology, a mobile phone repair and vape shop in the Square Mile, which is operated by The Victorian Management Group Limited. Mr Siddiqi is the sole Director of this company.

Officers found Siddiqi selling illegal vapes and nicotine products to customers.

He also obstructed officers from carrying out the inspection and gave false information to them.

Mr Siddiqi appeared before City Magistrates court on July 17 where he pleaded guilty to the offences and was told to pay  £6,140.85.

The fines amounted to £1,900 with the remainder being costs and surcharge.

Chair of the Corporation’s Port Health and Environmental Services Committee, Mary Durcan, said:

“Our job is to protect the public from illegal traders and the law is very clear about what products can be sold.

“Our Trading Standards team will always come down hard on those who seek to exploit the public.

“Officers had the tenacity to deal with the obstruction that they faced and then seize a large quantity of illegal products which will now be destroyed.

“Obstruction of authorised officers will never be tolerated, and this prosecution should serve as a warning to other retailers who think they can break the law.”

Anyone with information about businesses selling illegal vaping products in the City can contact Trading Standards on 202 7332 3406.
