Introduction: Why We Chose Brooklands by Claude Bosi

Brooklands earned two Michelin stars in 2024, only six months after opening alongside the new Peninsula London hotel — joining Alex Dilling at Hotel Café Royal in the small group of London restaurants to earn two stars in their debut year. Claude Bosi, who already runs the two-star Bibendum in South Kensington, designed Brooklands as his more ambitious and luxurious counterpart, taking advantage of the eighth-floor rooftop location and the hotel’s resources.

The restaurant’s identity is unusual: a homage to the historic Brooklands motorsport circuit and the British aviation industry, with design references to vintage racing and Concorde. Curved leather banquettes, art deco brass fittings, and floor-to-ceiling windows facing Hyde Park give the space a glamorous, slightly cinematic feel that no other London two-star room offers.

We chose to review Brooklands because it represents the most theatrical of London’s newest two-star rooms. We have read the Michelin Guide, AA, TripAdvisor, Andy Hayler, Hardens, The Infatuation. (See also our reviews of London’s three-star and two-star restaurants.)

Location & Getting There

The restaurant sits on the eighth floor of The Peninsula London, the new luxury hotel that opened at 1 Grosvenor Place on the corner of Hyde Park Corner. Entry is via the hotel’s main reception, then a dedicated lift to the eighth floor.

By Tube

  • Hyde Park Corner (Piccadilly line) — 1 minute’s walk south.
  • Knightsbridge (Piccadilly line) — 7 minutes’ walk west.
  • Victoria (District, Circle, Victoria) — 8 minutes’ walk south-east.

First Impressions & Atmosphere

The dining room is one of the most cinematic in London. The eighth-floor location gives unobstructed views over Hyde Park, Wellington Arch, and the rooftops of Belgravia. Curved leather banquettes in deep racing green, brass fittings polished to mirror finish, and discreet aviation references (a small Concorde model is built into the bar) produce a space that feels both luxurious and playful.

Service is led by long-tenured Peninsula front-of-house staff, with the warmth of a Hong Kong-trained luxury hotel. Pacing across the seven-course tasting runs around 2.5 hours.

Concorde Lunch (£58)

The three-course Concorde Lunch is genuinely remarkable value. £58 for three courses at a two-star room is the lowest weekday lunch price at this Michelin tier in London. Available at lunch only.

Tasting Menus (£135 / £195 / £225)

Three- five- and seven-course tastings drawing from Bosi’s modern British repertoire. Recent menus have featured Cornish crab with apple and ginger, Goosnargh duck with foie gras and cherry, line-caught turbot with shellfish butter, Anjou pigeon with rhubarb, and a chocolate sphère with whisky.

À la Carte (from £27 starters)

Available alongside the tastings — flexibility for diners who prefer to choose individual dishes.

Wine

The list runs to approximately 800 bins with strong Burgundy and English representation. Pairings start at £165.

Pricing & Value for Money

The £58 Concorde Lunch is genuine fine-dining value at two-star tier. The £225 seven-course dinner tasting is competitive. Wine pairings at £165 are middle-of-pack for two-star.

What Diners Actually Say

TripAdvisor 4.7/5 from 500+ reviews; The Infatuation calls it “the most cinematic dining room in London”; Hardens top 10 score; Andy Hayler 17/20.

What Diners Love Most

  1. The Hyde Park view. Unmatched in London fine dining at this tier.
  2. The £58 Concorde Lunch. Best two-star lunch value in London after Alex Dilling.
  3. Service polish. Peninsula-trained front-of-house with Hong Kong luxury-hotel warmth.
  4. The room itself. Cinematic art-deco-meets-aviation décor unlike anywhere else.
  5. Cornish crab dish. A consistent five-star mention.
  6. Goosnargh duck. Rotating signature; one of Bosi’s strongest current dishes.
  7. Wine programme. English representation alongside French heavyweights.
  8. Speed of two stars. Six months from opening.

Areas for Consideration

  1. Premium-end pricing on the upper tasting tier. £245 for seven courses is upper-middle for two-star.
  2. Booking is competitive for window tables. Specifying a Hyde Park view requires advance request.
  3. Not as ingredient-led as some peers. Atmosphere can dominate the experience.
  4. Limited à la carte after 8.30pm.

Who Is Brooklands Best For?

  • Special-occasion celebrations with a view
  • Visitors staying at The Peninsula or other Belgravia luxury hotels

⚠️ Less suitable for:

  • Diners who prioritise ingredient-led austerity
  • Last-minute window-table requests
  • Strict budgets for evening service

London Reviews Verdict on Brooklands by Claude Bosi

Brooklands is the most cinematic of London’s two-star rooms. The eighth-floor location, the Hyde Park view, and the art-deco-meets-aviation décor produce an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the city. Claude Bosi’s modern British cooking holds its own — the Cornish crab and Goosnargh duck are particularly strong — and the £58 Concorde Lunch is genuine value at two-star tier.

Recommended for special-occasion celebrations where atmosphere matters as much as cooking, and for the £58 lunch as one of the best fine-dining bargains in London.
