Mazal was started in 2023 by two Israeli chefs and serves Middle Eastern street food including shawarmas, falafels, schnitzels, kebabs and steaks.

Dishes include homemade hummus with a variety of toppings, shawarma carved on the spot and green falafel.

Chef Aviv is inspired by the Levant and cooks in a modern, casual style with a “farm to table” approach that takes care over the provenance of the ingredients.

One reviewer wrote: “We found the food at Mazal to be both delicious and satisfying. The restaurant lives up to its promise of serving high-end street food at affordable prices.”

Now in their 14th year, the awards are judged by a range of MPs, journalists and industry experts and recognise the contribution to the economy and British culture of the nation’s kebab takeaways and restaurants.

They reward the dedication of hard-working restaurant workers and owners who demonstrate excellence across a wide range of categories — from fine dining restaurants and regional takeaways to chefs, suppliers and street food operators.

Ibrahim Dogus, founder of the British Kebab Awards, said: “The British Kebab Awards were created to celebrate an industry that contributes billions to the UK economy and supports tens of thousands of jobs.

“This year’s winners demonstrate not only culinary excellence but resilience, innovation and community leadership. From family-run takeaways to high-end dining destinations, these businesses are the backbone of our high streets.

“I am incredibly proud of what this industry continues to achieve, particularly in challenging economic times.”
