Boyzone could be about to reunite and embark on a new series of concerts as singers Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch and Keith Duffy and Westlife’s Brian McFadden join forces to become the face of a football club. National League North side Chorley say they are in talks with the Irish pop stars to become shareholders.
The band will reportedly be at Saturday’s (February 10) home game against Solihull in the FA Trophy to officially seal the deal. Not only this, but the group are planning to perform a number of dates at the Lancashire club’s ground, sparking rumors of a new tour.
Shane confirmed the news to The Mirror and said: “I’m really looking forward to the weekend, we’ve got lots of exciting things in the pipeline. It’s really exciting to be at the game on Saturday with some of the boys, it should be a really good year ahead us. We are all excited to see what the future holds and what we have planned.”
The band’s reunion comes six years after Keating said Boyzone would not be getting back together after a tour and album in 2018. Keating, who is believed to be at the center of the new venture with Chorley FC, previously said: “We had 25 great years. … We wrote the last chapter ourselves.
“Ending it the way we did after 25 years was the right thing to do. We went out on a high, we had five great nights at the Palladium.”
Boyzone is currently the subject of a documentary focusing on the group’s rapid rise to fame. The involvement with the football club will also feature in another upcoming programme, The Mirror reports.
Formed in 1993 by music mogul Louis Walsh, he placed an ad in Irish newspapers for auditions for a new boy band. Since forming, the group has sold over 25 million records worldwide, with six UK No.1 singles and nine Irish No.1 singles.
