London’s love of sky-high drinking venues and hang-out spots has surely reached its peak. A beloved London institution has announced surprise plans for a rooftop bar this summer. None other than Big Ben (or the Elizabeth Tower as pedants insist on calling it) will become London’s hottest new venue this summer as it opens up a brand new rooftop bar.
The Big Bong rooftop will be accessible only by climbing the stairs all the way to the top. That means this rooftop is not for the faint of heart. But there above London, guests will be treated to unparalleled views of the city and a second-to-none listening experience for fans of the clock tower’s iconic ‘bong’.
Drinks at the Big Ben rooftop bar
The exclusive drinks menu will feature sips like the That’s Not My Name Spritz – a bittersweet spritz with both Aperol and Campari. There’s also the eponymous Big Ben cocktail. This particular libation is a fruity rum-based drink that comes in a huge, Big Ben- shaped drinking vessel. This particular drink – a fruity rum-based sipper – is served ‘on the clocks’. This sees the ordinary ice swapped out for adorable Big Ben-shaped ice-cubes for twice the clock-shaped fun.
If you fancy a discount on your drink, do your best impression of Big Ben’s ‘bong’ to receive 50% off their first drink. And if you come dressed as the iconic clock or clock tower, you’ll net yourself a free shot. (We’d opt for the house tequila, which is infused with thyme.)
In keeping with the clock theme, the rooftop will be soundtracked exclusively by songs about clocks and timekeeping. Live DJs will entertain guests with the likes of Coldplay’s ‘Clocks‘, High School Musical’s iconic ‘What Time Is It‘, ‘…Baby One More Time‘ by Britney Spears, and more. There will also be special throwback evenings every Friday. Sing along to retro hits like ‘Time‘ by Pink Floyd, ‘The Final Countdown‘ by Europe, and Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Time After Time‘.
Did someone say Westminster coast? We’ll meet you up there for a drink! (We’re both sure to need one after climbing all those stairs!)
But if you’ve made it this far into this article, I’ve got bad news for you. This is just an April Fool’s joke! Big Ben isn’t really opening a rooftop bar this summer…
But if you do want to visit Big Ben or explore the nearby Palace of Westminsteryou can head here.
