Rachel Walters and Jon Walters were first introduced 90 Day Groom: Before 90 days season 2 and it’s time for an update. Jon, a 34-year-old Englishman, had met his wife Rachel on the karaoke app Smule. The pair met and began a long-distance relationship, but it wasn’t until Rachel found out she was pregnant with her ex-boyfriend’s baby. Rachel was already Ella’s mother at that time. However, John didn’t mind becoming a father figure to Rachel’s two children and has raised her youngest daughter, Lucy, as his own.
Unfortunately, the happiness they created as a family has hit roadblocks for years. Rachel tried to secure a K-1 visa for Jon because they wanted him to move to New Mexico and settle down, but they were denied because of Jon’s prior criminal convictions, including an assault charge. Jon and Rachel got married in 2018 Jon got an interview in 2021 after three years of waiting. The next step was to apply for a release that would allow them to explain their story. It was supposed to last between six and nine months.

Rachel couldn’t move her family to England because Ella’s father wouldn’t allow it. While they waited for official word on Jon’s visa case, Jon was there during the video call. Rachel and Jon talk often and she has been to England to visit Jon with Lucy several times. By Racheln 2023 IG post, Ella was 13 years old and an 8th grader. Lucy turned six and was in 1st grade. Rachel revealed that there is “night and day difference when my kids start school.“

In May 2023, Jon posted a message on Facebook to let his fans know about his recent visa issue. “70 days before we get a final answer on the visa”, he wrote (via The Hollywood Gossip.) Jon thanked his fans for their support and help over the years “procrastinate” like him “I waited and waited.” He called his followers “amazing” and called his way “fun. Jon shared the same update on his Instagram, adding: “We are at the end of the beginning.” Jon looked hopeful as he wrote:One way or another, this chapter is coming to an end.”
Jon and Rachel stayed together through the visa process. It took two years Jonfor application processing due to COVID-19 as he mentioned in another post. It was followed by another 27 month queue”for waiver.” Jon made an Instagram post on July 19, which happened to be his late grandmother’s birthday, and he didn’t say anything about his visa then. August 3, 2023 Rachel told a 90 day fiance fan,”We’re still waiting, unfortunately” on Instagram when they pressed him for an update.

In July 2024, Jon and Rachel announced that they had decided to separate.
No official word was given by either side that Joni’s visa after the handover and interview was denied, but it was hinted at.
However, both Jon and Rachel issued statements about their split. It was revealed that they had only spent 13 days together in person over the past four years and split due to distance. Despite their best efforts, Joni and Rachel’s visa journey ended hopelessly.
Rachel described that she and Jon met “significant challenges” which their fans didn’t know about. 90 day fiance fans had supported Jon and Rachel for the past eight years, but the visa barrier and their lack of communication because of it eventually led to a split. Jon has been giving social media updates that show that from his perspective the decision to break up was entirely Rachel’s.
Now that they’re divorced, Jon has said that he has gained a lot of weight and that he feels “dead inside”. He noted that he was working on himself, but he wasn’t in a good place emotionally. Jon still keeps one picture with Rachel on his Instagram page, and the rest of his posts are about working out. Rachel has kept herself busy with her daughters and even started an Etsy shop selling dream catchers and dolls. Rachel also informed fans that she was going back to school to get her teaching degree with a focus on elementary school.
Jon and Rachel’s long-distance cross-cultural relationship did not survive the many trials they faced. The 90 day fiance the pair no longer follow each other on Instagram, and it’s unclear if Jon still has a role in Lucy’s life. This wasn’t the ending fans were hoping for, but the couple can finally move on and live the lives they want.
